D-S BOOSTER MARVELOUS MERCURY MARINER RAFFLE

This year for our spring fundraiser, the Boosters are raffling off a 2008 Mercury Mariner I4 4WD equipped with a Thule rail rack containing a Trek Mountain bike and a Kayak. Each raffle ticket will cost $100 and ONLY 500 tickets will be sold. Raffle tickets go on sale Monday April 21st and will be sold until 5:00pm on June 1st or until the last ticket is sold. The Raffle Drawing will be held on at 5:30pm, Sunday June 1st, 2008 on the Stadium Field. Winner does not need to be present to claim the prize.

Every raffle has to have rules

The purchaser of the ticket must 18 years old and be aware of the following:
The winner of the car is responsible for the cost of any tax, licensing, registration and insurance, and all other fees associated with the final purchase of the vehicle.
The Internal Revenue Service takes the position that no portion of the ticket price will qualify as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
Depositing the ticket or any other materiel in connection with the raffle in the federal mails is in violation of federal law and may lead to criminal penalties.
The value of the prize will be treated as ordinary income for federal and state income tax purposes and that the winner may be required to pre pay a portion of the tax liability prior to receiving the prize.
The prize consists of five items
- 2008 Mercury Mariner with a value of $25,649
- Kayak, with a value of $300
- Trek 820 Mountain Bike, with a value of $290,
- Scrub-a Dub car Wash with a value of $114
The prize will be available for inspection, on Sunday May 4th at the Dover Sherborn Youth Baseball Parade and Saturday May 10th at the Sherborn Library Fair.
The DS Boosters will sell a minimum of 400 tickets and a maximum of 500 tickets. If the minimum number of tickets is not sold, cash and checks will be returned to the purchaser, credit cards will be refunded.
Proceeds from this raffle will be used to continue with the mission statement of the DS Boosters. The estimated percentage of the ticket price which will be used for charitable purposes in the event only the minimum number of tickets is sold is 34 %.
Winner does not need to be present to claim the prize.
The following persons may not purchase raffle tickets
- An officer, director, or trustee (or an individual having powers or responsibilities similar to those of officers, directors, or trustees) of the organization
- A spouse other than a spouse who is legally separated from the individual under a decree of divorce or separate maintenance; a child including legally adopted children; grandchildren; parents; and grandparents of parties described in 940 CMR 12.01(1).
- A corporation, trust, estate, or partnership more than 35% of which is owned or held by any of the preceding
